How to Change the front brakes

Ranger front brakes
In order to change the front brakes on a Ranger you must first jack the vehicle up into the air and remove the tire for the side that you want to change. Once the tire has been removed you can see the brake rotor and the brake pads within the caliper. To install new brake pads you only have to remove the brake caliper and swap out the pads. When reinstalling the brake caliper you must torque the caliper bolts to 30 ft-lbs. The sliding locating pin bolts torque to 25 ft-lbs. If you need to remove the entire brake bracket for any job when you go to reinstall it make sure to torque its bolts to 85 ft-lbs.

How to change the rear brakes

Ranger Rear brakes
The rear brakes on a Ranger are drum brakes which consist of many different components and springs in order to function properly. A set of new drum brake shoes usually come with new hardware and components to install when changing the shoes. To remove the rear drum you merely have to pry and tap the old drum off and then disassembly the parts one by one. Be sure to remember how they dissassemble as you will need to put the new parts together in the same order. Once the shoes are installed you can push the brake drum back onto the brake assembly and install the rear wheel and torque the lugnuts to 100 ft-lbs.
